Lyrics of the Week – Week 35

Dedicated to forgiveness-ology.

“Love-ology” by Regina Spektor

Oh, an incurable humanist you are…
Let’s go to the movies,
I will hum you a song about nothing at all…

Sit down class, open up your textbooks to page forty-two

Porcupine-ology, antler-ology, car-ology, bus-ology, train-ology, plane-ology
Mama-ology, papa-ology, you-ology, me-ology
Love-ology, kiss-ology, stay-ology, please-ology

Let’s study, class, let’s study, class, sit down

Love-ology, love-ology, I’m sorry-ology, forgive me-ology…

Oh, an incurable humanist you are…
Oh, forgive me…forgive me-ology

Not much meat in this song compared to past lyrics of the week. However, it is the simplest song that conveys the strongest message. To me, this song is about educating one on the ways of love. No one really knows the rules or directions of a relationship because each one is different depending on the people involved. For instance, I’ve failed at keeping a long distance relationship together, but now I have the chance to do it again. My prediction is that it will be much better and easier than the last, pray that another one of my idols doesn’t die…

These lyrics plead forgiveness and understanding, something we all need.
