Lyrics of the Week – Week 34

Dedicated to determination.

“The World is Ours” by The Underwater

World, the world, the world
The world, the world
The world, the world
The world, the world
The world, the world
The world, the world
The world, the world

My future’s brighter than than the sun,
(Than the sun).
I’m open and I’m young.
The spiritual sky
Has opened my eyes.
And I’m counting on you.
New.

Like it’s the first time,
It’s the last time
I’ll take no for an answer.
This is the day,
This is the hour
That I’m turning all around.

There’s magic in the air I feel,
(Air I break).
It’s electric energy.
I’ve painted the night
As bright as the day,
And the world is ours to take.

Like it’s the first time,
It’s the last time
I’ll take no for an answer.
This is the day,
This is the hour
That I’m turning all around.
Around.

This is my official “out of my funk” song! Can’t quite explain why I was blue last week, but I’m happy to say I’m out of it. “The spiritual sky has opened my eyes.”  There’s no use being upset over nonsense. Nick Bailey’s second rule of happiness is Don’t Stress Over Stupid Shit. I have to say I agree. I fall sometimes, but in the end, little shit does NOT matter. (For those who care, Nick Bailey’s first rule is Do What You Want and his third rule is Enjoy Yourself! That’s why he is my rock.)

The Underwater originated in York, Pa (my county!). They’ve toured in Europe and currently have three albums released: Bleed Me Blue, Lungs, and Forces. I’ve listened to Bleed Me Blue and an EP with a few older tracks for the last two days straight. This band is golden. It’s rock with an edge and a touch of screaming. Badass.

The first time I heard them was at a York County Chili Cook-Off about six years ago with my friend Bre. We fell for them and were soon channeled into their other gigs, following them around like the little 8th grade groupies we were. 🙂
